The support we provide to families is at the heart of our mission. Our program is  available to a wider community, including upcoming events, and the information about Down syndrome we provide.

Words of Affirmation

Virtual

Words of Affirmation are any spoken or written words that confirm, support, uplift, and empathize with another person in a positive manner. Words of affirmation are recognized as one of the five love languages to which all participants will learn. We explore different ways to deliver positive messages that build and strengthen the confidence needed to enjoy a positive and beautiful lifestyle. 

Teen Affirmations for Living Your Best Life and Feeling Great

Teens have a lot of challenges to overcome and they need constant encouragement. This positive affirmation and advice video was created by teens for teens to uplift your child daily.

It’s a short five-minute video they can listen to in the morning upon waking, before going to school or right before bedtime. It is designed to get teens thinking past where they are now and instead get them planning for their future.

21 Days of Healthy Eating

VIRTUAL

Healthy eating: is more than a list of things to eat or avoid – it’s a pattern that contributes to a positive relationship with food. Feeding our bodies the fuel and nutrients that we need to sustain life. When we consume the wrong fuel, or not enough of the right fuel, our bodies struggle to keep us going, and we don’t feel our best. In our program, participants are educated on ingredients, making smoothies, and healthy snacks to discover good food choices that will become an every day lifestyle. 3 smoothies a day for 21 days: (3-21)

Healthy Eating: An introduction 

Lots of different things affect how healthy we are including what we eat and how active we are. Food plays a huge part in keeping us healthy and so we need to make sure we’re eating a variety of foods to get all the right vitamins and nutrients.

This video introduces healthy eating to children aged 5-11.

Physical Fitness

VIRTUAL COACHING

Physical fitness involves the performance of the heart, lungs, and muscles. Pumping blood to the brain, can help us think clearly, physical activity releases chemicals like endorphins and serotonin in the brain that improve our moods. It can even increases the connections between the nerve cells in the brain which improves memory. We always include fun group exercise to engage in a positive setting, learning exercises that can be done at home or anywhere to build healthy habits. Decreases the risk of health problems: (Obesity)

Strength Training for Athletes with Down Syndrome ft. Cassidy Bauer

This is a lower body workout that one of our Special Olympic Powerlifters, Cassidy, completes on a 3 or 4 day/week training schedule. The emphasis is on strengthening the hips and quadriceps at appropriate hip angles; meaning that while she could squat deeper, we are attempting to stay away from these absolute end ranges.
